Kenya is among the countries in the world where practices of female genital mutilation (FGM) are rampant, heavily affecting cycle of girls and women's socio-economic lives. In most of the countries, the majority of girls were cut before reaching their fifth birthdays. FGM is a deeply rooted custom which marks a girl's initiation into womanhood and is kept as part of the cultural heritage.
