This is the third video in a five part series titled layers. Everything in this series was created using layers, thus the title. Ace started with just the piano part which he sent to Kyle. Kyle than layered two guitar parts over it. Ace added the Tempest drum layer and sent it to Jeffrey James who added his unique and improvised vocals to the track and had his friend Jimi add another guitar track. Ace finished it up with the final bass synth track. The first tracks, or the theme of the song, was inspired by a short story concept that Ace thought up. Then, once each song was complete, Ace would listen to the song and write that part of the story, allowing the story to inspire the song, which then inspires the story. Everything, coming together in Layers. Each song title is based on a really cool word.

III: Dai-Dōkutsu
I stood in the great cavern, my mind free of the worries of preservation and misery. I looked around with wonder. The cavern was one great chamber, bigger than I had ever expected from the outside. I took off my soaked shoes and felt heat radiating through the smooth stone floor. Only then did I notice that the air in the cave was unnaturally and pleasantly warm. In the center of the room was a great pool that shimmered with a celestial light. As I gazed into the waters I saw my distorted reflection staring back at me. I reached down to wash my face of the blood and dirt. To my surprise, I found the water to be fresh and cool—much unlike the harsh salt water of the pools outside.

All around me the cave sparkled in a pale green and purple fluorescence. The unnatural lights refracted and reflected off great crystalline structures that hung from the ceiling down to the calm pools below. It was like nothing I had ever seen or dreamed of.

The unearthly lights eased away my anxiety. The healing warmth alleviated every ache and pain. The pellucid water helped to calm me and restore my strength. And it came to me: The cavern was healing me. Everything working to strip me of all distractions until I was left with nothing but myself. And there, in that moment of proper introspection, I fell to my knees and wept.

Every decision that led me to that coastline.
Every pain caused by my thoughtless words.
Every person whom I drove away with my selfish, heartless choices.

It all came back, and if not for the comfort of this restorative space I would not have been able to handle the weight of it all. I cried for hours in the bosom of the cliffs, combing through every painful memory until I had nothing left. And with that, I closed my eyes and sleep overtook me.
