From high altitude lakes to swampy marshes, herons occupy a broad range of environments. Their diet mostly includes fish, and surprisingly enough, herons have been known to choke to death attempting to swallow prey that is too large.

Herons are some of the 150 species explored in Finley-Holiday's "National Park Animals for Kids DVD." Filmed entirely in the national parks by renown nature videographer Russ Finley, the DVD explores 6 classes of animals: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, insects and spiders (aka bugs) in over 2 hours of video.

Available on location at America's National Parks and at finleyholiday.com.
