Sleeve Drive, why an Ellipse motion

This vid tries to explain why the sleeve in a single sleeve valve engine moves in an elliptical shape, as opposed to a circle. It has to do with the sleeve rotating away from the centerline of the sleeve drive shaft, causing some of the motion to be used up in sliding motion, instead of moving the sleeve the full distance sideways. Clear as mud right!!! :) I tried!
