There has been a muted response from US allies to President Obama's plans to curb the surveillance activities of the United States' National Security Agency, or NSA. Documents leaked by fugitive intelligence analyst Edward Snowden suggested the NSA has been collecting electronic data on millions of both American and foreign citizens, and had tapped the phones of foreign leaders.
