This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Elizabeth Miller shares about the way science, poetry, literature, engineering, the mind and the heart are in conversation with each other, creating a point at which things actually touch.  The quality of our questions and our attention sets the journey, with awareness and intention as our most powerful creative tools.  We follow where we are looking and where we are listening.   Neuroscience teaches us much about how we think and how we create.  The way for our creativity to coalesce into a point that is as potent as it can be starts with going inside, paying attention to one's own heartbeat.  

Elizabeth spent the early years of her life fascinated by the movement of light through the  trees in her yard, the experience of rhythm that could be expressed through dancing, music, and story-telling, and became a competitive ice skater and a student of the biomedical arts. Currently Vice President of Pseads Institute, Elizabeth serves as content editor for the international journal of science and spirituality (Sufism, An Inquiry), and is a founding member of the Avay-i-Janaan Poetry Slam Collective.  Her academic and professional research on Integral Ecology looks for nurturing, creative, supportive approaches for the basic academic functions of evaluation and assessment.  Elizabeth will share how writing of poetry allows the development of critical thinking and scientific logic skills for young students in our educational systems.
