Gujarat: Congress gained rural, BJP continued to dominate urban areas

The BJP will form the government in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. The party needed 92 seats to form the government. It has won 99, 16 less than the 2012 assembly elections. The Congress won 80 seats, 19 more than the last time. In BJP's traditional stronghold Saurashtra, it could win only 23 of the 56 assembly seats. The party lost 13 seats in Saurashtra and three in the rest of the state. The Congress has gained 15 seats in Saurashtra and four in the rest of the state. (Audio in Hindi).
