I created this video to show what happens under the cover plate of a tipical sewing machine. This is where the bobbin and bobbin case are attached to the shaft spinning under the feet of the machine. As the hook spins around the bobbin case it picks up the thread from the needle pulling it around to be looped around the thread from the bobbin completing one stitch per revolition.
