She was one of 6 million young adults across the country prone to chronic migraines. At 18, she considers herself a success story because of the coping skills she learned at the Headache Center at Cincinnati Children's. Early treatment can make all the difference in getting a handle on migraines, says Dr. Andrew Hershey, director of the Headache Center. Frequent headaches are among the most common childhood health complaints and are just as much a disease in childhood as asthma, he says.
