(21 Nov 2018) Teams of workers spent Wednesday afternoon preparing balloons for the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The 92nd annual parade will feature 16 giant balloons bearing the likeness of popular cartoon characters, and 43 smaller balloons. The New York City Police Department will be monitoring wind gauges along the parade route and will order the helium-filled balloons to a lower altitude or removed entirely if wind speeds reach dangerous levels. So far, the forecast calls for temperatures in the low 20s and sustained winds just inside the safe zone for balloons to fly.
