Police are at this time investigating the murder of a security officer at the MacFoods Processing Meat Factory in Laventille, which occurred during a robbery on Sunday night. It is reported that Jody Awai, a security officer with K9 Security Company Ltd, was beaten to death by bandits at about 11:15pm. Awai and another security officer were at the Old St. Joseph Road Factory when three men made their way onto the compound by climbing the wall. The other security officer was tied up by the bandits who then spotted Awai. The criminals caught him and beat him severely, slamming his head against a concrete wall. The men made off with goods and valuables. The other officer was able to free himself before calling the police. The men were seen running South of the Priority Bus Route.
