Our favorite sunscreens and self tanners

Hey cruisers, I’m Sheri with CruiseGear. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m pale. Yes, it's true. Like, I sunburn in about 15 minutes pale. So, sunscreen and self tanners are my best friend, and I never leave for a cruise without an entire arsenal (or Ziploc bag) full of “crazy high spf” supplies. Unfortunately, I also have super sensitive skin, so it’s taken some time to find sunscreens that keep me from burning and irritate my eyes and skin. Now, my husband and son actually have totally different skin, so we’re going to share ALL of our family favorites. First, my daily facial sunscreen. I’ve been using this Eucerin daily lotion since I was in my 20’s, and I love everything about it. It’s perfectly moisturizing without being greasy, and doesn’t burn my eyes, which many daily moisturizers do. I apply it under my make up in the morning, to my face, neck and décolletage, and I’m done. If I’m traveling, or out in the sun more often, I reapply another product over the top. It transitions well from day to day office life to travel very nicely. That leads me to the second product we love- this neutrogena wet skin kids stuff gets sprayed on the whole family. Now, while my little son doesn’t burn all that easily, he is super prone to rashes, so we searched high and low for a high spf that was gentle enough for kids. Turns out, we all love it. I’ve been reading that sprays could contain some harmful ingredients, but the trouble is, putting sunscreen on my kid is like trying to catch a greased pig. This spray is the ONLY way to get him covered, so for now, we’re sticking with it. 3rd, this sunscreen stick is a lifesaver. We discovered this guy by accident when it came in a sample size with the neutrogena kids spray I just showed you. Now, we can’t live without it, because my son flatly refuses to let me put a sunscreen lotion on his face. So, he applies this himself and everybody wins. This one is a little greasy for my grown-up-taste, but I have reached for it on a busy pool day to hit my sun sensitive areas like my cheeks , nose and forehead. We recently discovered this little gem in my monthly target subscription box, but it’s available on the shelves too. It smells great and is perfect for throwing in my backpack. It also comes in a spray formula and smells great, like old school tropical sunscreen. The last sunscreen product we dig is this Banana boat spray. My husband has skin that tans nicely and is more olive toned, so this lower SPF product is perfect for him, AND it’s smells like an amazing cologne, so let’s be honest, I buy it for him because I love the handsome smell! Now, how about self tanners. Here are a few that I’ve used recently (show products and explain brand). But my all time, absolute favorite is this L’Oreal spray that a friend and work introduced me too. It dries in seconds and has the best coverage of any product I’ve seen. It’s under $15 and while it doesn’t last forever, it’s great to have on hand when you don’t have a lot of time to apply a cream with your hands or a mit. I love this stuff! The best thing, unlike the other two brands I showed you, it doesn't discolor my hands. Nuff said. You may have noticed that except for a few of the self tanners, these are all drugstore brands. I buy all of this stuff at Target, CVS and Costco, and usually look for them on sale.
