United Nations - Vietnam es el segundo mayor exportador mundial de arroz y el 80 por ciento de esta producción se cultiva en el delta del Mekong, una vasta llanura aluvial y una de las zonas agrícolas más fértiles de Asia. Sin embargo, suslos agricultorescampesinos de esta zona  aseguran que el futuro de la producción de arroz está amenazado por el aumento del nivel del mar y de la temperatura, ambos atribuidos al cambio climático.
