Assad says defeating terrorism key to Syria's future

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that a political solution to his country's civil war can only be reached after defeating terrorism. In a recent interview, Assad said that a timetable for political change can only be decided once terrorism is removed from Syria. Until then, there's no point. He noted that the terrorists are the main obstacle of any real political advancement. According to the president, two years would be enough time for Syria to implement a new political procedure. That would include a new constitution, a referendum, or parliamentarian or presidential elections.
