Recent changes to copyright rules in Europe are designed to better compensate artists whose work is fuelling the revenue earned by digital platforms, including YouTube. But anti-censorship advocates have concerns that the new regulations will stifle innovation and harm free speech. Should these new rules be a roadmap for Canada as it aims to update its own copyright regulations?
