Security camera captures violent robbery of 81-year-old woman

A 35-year-old Sudbury man has been charged following the violent robbery of an 81-year-old woman in Aurora, Ontario, on July 31, 2017. At about 7:30 p.m. that evening, York Regional Police were called to a bank in the Yonge and Wellington streets area following the report of a robbery. Security cam footage soon revealed what had happened.

The suspect fled the area on foot. The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they received “a large volume of tips” about the incident, which helped lead to the arrest of the suspect on Aug. 2 at a residence in Aurora. Facing a charge of robbery is Terrence Rocks, 35, of Sudbury. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on Aug. 8, 2017.
