Dr. Nirmala Deshpande (or Didi as she is affectionately known) is a Gandhian, social activist and member of Indian parliament. She has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and is the recipient of numerous awards including the Indian National Communal Harmony Award and the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award.
