The Kongo is classed as a Battleship at Tier V, but was originally designed and built as a battlecruiser in WW1. Two successive refits prior to WWII modernized the Kongo, and kept it relevant, but it never had battleship class armour, and it suffers when fighting true battleships. Fortunately, it's fast, and it's guns are good. Turret rotation is slow, rudder shift time is on the slow side, close quarter battles are not the forte of the Kongo.
