Thirty years ago Chicago's near north side, north and east of the river and west of Michigan Avenue, was a jumble of obsolete manufacturing buildings punctuated by the occasional rooming house. Today, the area that became known as River North is a prime restaurant, gallery, residential and office district. Albert Friedman of Friedman Properties was a major player in the changes. In this final part of a four-part series he talks about the continuing evolution of River North and the prospects for further residential development.
