Carrie Hope Fletcher interviews Sheila Atim after she wins the Best Supporting Actress In A Musical for her role in Girl From The North Country.

Conor McPherson’s critically acclaimed musical of hope, heartbreak and soul, incorporating classic songs from the catalogue of Bob Dylan.

Girl From The North Country is set in 1934, and, in the midst of the Great Depression. A Duluth, Minnesota family sits on a knife-edge, their future indeterminate. Lost and lonely people drift through the rooms of their guesthouse, as the future of the community teeters on the edge.

On the night of the Olivier Awards, we were waiting in the wings at the Royal Albert Hall to speak to the winners as soon as they left the stage. Carrie Hope Fletcher met them to get their immediate reactions.

Hosted by Catherine Tate, the evening saw honours largely shared evenly amongst a number of highly acclaimed London theatres of the past year. The National Theatre celebrated five Olivier Award wins across their productions, while the Royal Court enjoyed four, including three for the Broadway-bound epic Jez Butterworth play, The Ferryman.

But, it was the lauded Lin-Manuel Miranda musical Hamilton led the way at the Olivier Awards 2018 with Mastercard ceremony, collecting seven awards from its record-breaking thirteen nominations.
