James, who is a former Kentwood Schools worker, was convicted of raping East Kentwood High student Mujey Dumbuya, who was later slain. James, 43, was sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison for third-degree criminal-sexual conduct. He awaits a February trial in the Kentwood teen's killing.
