http://www.refresheverything.com/askate Below is a slightly edited explanation I originally wrote at Skateboard-City.com: The A.Skate Foundation is epic... they're a grassroots group that brings kids with Autism out to skateparks and skaters introduce them to the activity we all know and love... it's seriously the most amazing shit ever. They're trying to get into the top 10 bracket in one of those Pepsi contests so they can win a $50,000 grant to expand the foundation. I'm a contestant like anyone else, but more importantly I feel compelled to drive as many people to this as possible... first I'll explain how to enter, then the prizes... if it's not the best shit I don't know what is. Casting a vote can be done in three ways, all of which are easy: 1. Go here- www.refresheverything.com/askate and cast a single vote (use Facebook to log in). 2. Grab your phone and text message Pepsi (73774) and send these digits- 108814 ...that'll also equal a single vote. 3. Power Votes- this one requires that you purchase a Pepsi bottle, case, or whatever, just make sure it has "POWER VOTES" on the label. For the bottles, under the yellow caps are codes... take that code, and sign in (create an account if you have to) at the Pepsi site, click "power vote" for the idea, and enter the code. What happens is your single vote will randomly be bumped up to the equivalent of anything between 5 to 100 regular votes. You can enter up to 10 power votes per day, and you can vote in all three ways per day. I've been buying three bottles of Pepsi a day and giving them to people at my office after they let me write the code down. The night before this video was being made, we saw A.Skate bump up from 80 to 60... at this writing they're up to 53, but they need to be anywhere in the top 10. I'm BEGGING you cats to help out in any way... single votes, text votes, power votes, it doesn't matter... but please, vote and at the same time, boot your friends in the ass and get them to help. This is one of the most noble things I've seen in skateboarding for a long time, but they need help. I'm asking for help because for one, it can be done while sitting right there in front of your computer or phone. For two, it's one of the best causes I've ever heard of (I'm a bit partial as there is some Autism in my family). The prize, as mentioned, is NO FREAKIN JOKE... get ready for this: 1. You get an all expenses 6 day paid trip to LA, flight, hotel, and all that. 2. You get to go to Agenda. 3. You get to go to an A.Skate clinic and take part, watch, or whatever you want. 4. You get to skate at the Girl park. 5. You get to skate the Berrics. 6. You get to become a Deluxe employee for the day (no telling how much gear you'll leave with, but I figure someone will be stoked). 7. You can go skate any parks/plazas or LA spots that you want to, and from what I understand the hotel is close to one or two plazas (I forget which ones, but they'll take you wherever you want). You (and one other random winner) win ALL OF THE ABOVE. You'll meet pretty much every pro you could imagine at Agenda, Girl, and the Berrics, skate every LA park you've seen online, you'll be shwagged out, and you'll be doing something good for kids that are getting something they might not otherwise get... a chance to experience skateboarding and... well hell, that should be enough! I've been trying to light a fire under everyone's asses that I know. It's a great cause... great enough that I'm busting ass voting, texting, power voting, and calling homies. They just need to make it into the 10 spot by the end of this month. IMPORTANT: when you vote, type in something in the little thread thing and let them know you voted by saying so (that way they'll know who to call when they pick winners). Spread the word, buy a soda, do whatever... but they need a lot of help. You down? Think about the lack of effort compared to how sick the prizes are.
