Lynn Boylan MEP, speaking in the EU Parliament on the pilot project by Facebook for greater transparency in political advertising for the upcoming Repeal Referendum which she described as “window dressing”. She made reference to a recent dubious campaign which set out to target undecided voters which once exposed vanished. However, it took a cache of information with it on these voters to target them in the run up to polling day. She noted how Ireland needs to get real on regulating social media platforms.
