Safely Cut a Bagel

Breuggers Bagels didn't cut (nor offer to cut) any of my 13 Bagels. after using a knife of the first couple bagels and nearly cutting my fingers, it occurred to me to used the electric-knife. Still wasn't very 'safe' until it next occurred to me to stand the bagel on-end by first cutting a flat edge to stand it up on.
