A tribute to one of the most brilliant and inspiring figures to ever grace our lives - George N. Parks. Thank you, Mr. Parks, for the joy and enthusiasm you brought into each our loves and each of our hearts. We aim every day to live your legacy with a smile and with pride. Because we knew you, we have been changed for good. The music is a medley "Somewhere," from 'West Side Story,' (music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim) and "For Good," from 'Wicked' (music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz), arranged by Benjamin Rauhala. "Somewhere" was Mr. Parks' anthem as he struggled and fought to have a building constructed for the Marching Band, so that there would be "a place for us." Construction on the building began earlier this year, where Mr. Parks' legacy will live on for years and years to come. Recorded on September 24, 2010. Vocals by Kaylyn Utley, UMass Amherst Class of 2011 and guest vocalist for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band since 2004. Piano by Benjamin Rauhala, UMass Class of 2009 and member of the front percussion ensemble for the University of Massachusetts Minutemen Marching Band from 2006 to 2008.
