In celebration of its centennial, the Poetry Society of America, the nation's oldest poetry organization, paid tribute to the likes of Robert Lowell, Edwin Arlington Robinson, Robert Frost, and Jay Wright, among others, in Poets of New England, 1910--2010. Nine contemporary New England writers read from their own poems, as well as from the work of famous New Englanders of the past century. Among the poets reading were Pulitzer Prize-winners Mary Oliver, James Tate, and Franz Wright, as well as Gail Mazur, Frank Bidart, X. J. Kennedy, Major Jackson, Sophie Chantal Hart Professor Emeritus of English at Wellesley College and College of Arts & Sciences lecturer in creative writing David Ferry, and Rosanna Warren, BU's Emma Ann MacLachlan Metcalf Professor of the Humanities. Hosted by the Poetry Society of America in conjunction with the BU Creative Writing Program and the Boston Review on September 23, 2010.
