All Petrotrin Workers To Be Retrenched

Contrary to initial reports that 1,700 workers will be jobless with the closure of the Petrotrin Refinery, Chairman Wilfred Espinet said all workers, in both refining and exploration, would be retrenched. He said workers will have to re-apply for any positions in the newly-structured Petrotrin, which will focus solely on exploration and production. Speaking at a Press Briefing on Tuesday, Mr. Espinet said this method is being employed in an attempt to weed out old practices of production and nepotism.
