Hollywood & Vines is a first-of-its-kind short film made entirely of Vine videos that follow the transformative journey of a piece of paper. Over a four-day live event director Miles Jay tweeted 140-character shot descriptions asking fans to pick a shot and make a vine. We took over the @Airbnb Twitter handle and communicated directly with fans providing feedback, direction and encouragement in real-time. Using the #AirbnbHV hashtag, we were able to collect more than 750 submissions from 14 US states and 9 countries. 100 Vines were selected in the end and edited into a short film about travel, adventure, and finding your place in the world. Creating a social film shot entirely by fans required us to use multiple channels and apps to communicate, create, direct and ultimately distribute the final Hollywood and Vines film. It must have worked because the submissions were amazingly creative and blew us away.
