Happy birthday, Marissa! :) Since: 1) we became friends over Hercules and your Paparazzi video, 2) I have been in serious Herc vidding withdrawal for months, and 3) I didn't figure too many other people would remember/think of your Hercules love enough to make a full video of it for you, I thought it'd be a sweet idea to make you a Hercules video. :D So I needed a song, and I must give credit to whiimsy for giving me this one. :) I liked the sound of it immediately; it's exactly the kind of song I like to edit, and I thought I could make a really high-quality and thoughtful video with it. And then came Marissa's birthday, and this idea reemerged, and TADA! Here it is! I must apoloize, Mar, for it being so much shorter than last year's! I wanted to do the first two verses and choruses, but, as you know, I've been swamped this past semester with college and real life in general, not to mention pretty much everyone I know has a birthday in May. X'D So I've missed a lot of them, but I knew I couldn't miss yours. :) And to make up for it, I also organized the MMDS birthday MEP for you, so I hope it's all right. XD You were my first youtube friend. Marissa's been a faithful subscriber and friend to me since almost the very beginning--back when I didn't know how to split the frame, use transitions, hit beats, use text, use textures, voiceovers, bluescreen, etc., you name it. And she still was patient with me and watched my videos and gave me feedback despite the fact that I know I sucked. :) Thank you, Mar! ;D And she's also a major reason I have stuck with this program. I know a lot of people don't believe Windows Movie Maker can make pretty videos--and I'm not going to argue that Sony Vegas isn't better. I know it is, and the things it can do as a program are amazing. But Marissa helped me to see that simplicity and experimenting with the free program already built into the computer can produce different but equally stunning videos if given a chance and if put in the proper hands. ;) So I owe a lot to her for keeping me with WMM. I know we've grown apart lately and had our arguments and differences, but what friends don't, really, right? :) I just want you to know that I'm still here, and I'd love to chat and talk to you more sometime soon because I miss the old days. :') About the video itself: I have to say, I am sort of proud of this. Maybe it's just because I got to vid with Hercules again, but I really like the look of this and how it turned out in general. Lots of long-term fades, some zooms to emphasize things, those overused color-fade transitions, a lame-looking snow effect meant to represent rain (so much fail for not having a rain overlay), the coloring. I don't know. :) I just know I wanted something really nice and high quality for mah first youtube buddy. :) So I think, eventually (soon?) I will finish this video (second verse and chorus) and maybe possibly we'll see use it as my audition for DHST, too. Because I'm just that pleased with it. :P So, Marissa, I really hope you like this and that we can reconnect and that you had a splendiferous 20th birthday!
