http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org Faculty Awards - Feb. 6, 2015 Service Achievement Award Richard Ittenbach, PhD Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology Professor of Pediatrics Richard Ittenbach, PhD, plays a key role in what has become one of the backbone services at Cincinnati Children’s: data management. A statistician in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Ittenbach helped coordinate a four-year effort to upgrade the data system, a critical component given the institution’s increasing participation in multicenter trials. He guided the process with the help of a planning committee, identifying the initial staff and leadership of what became the Data Management Core. The Core has grown to 25 members, including clinical research specialists, database developers, coordinators and clerks. They oversee more than 60 projects in 20 divisions. Ittenbach has led efforts to standardize data management institution- wide and established a career ladder for data managers. He has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications in the behavioral and biomedical sciences, and served as a co-inves- tigator and biostatistician on numerous NIH/CDC grants. He currently serves on the editorial board of four journals, and is a member of six national organizations, including the American Statistical Association and the National Council on Measurement in Education.
