This is a video of the hyperdrive session I attended on July 15, 2012 at Memphis International Raceway. Hyperdrive is a 20 minute session in your car with an instructor around a road course. I won a free session at the first NASA Autocross I had attended.

My instructor was John Crawford, who owns a Porsche GT3. He was very helpful in pointing out the important points in the track. I used my 2012 Mustang GT (stock) that I have been using in recent autocrosses.

The first couple of laps were slow because the instructor was giving tips, and pointing out where to be on the track in the turns and straights. Also the most important tip was getting onto the drag strip at the high speeds. Quite a few people have lost control of their car, and wrecked them by going too hard onto the drag strip.

Going down the front straight, the car is in 5th gear and is in the latter half of the rpm range. On the Mustang's, the 5th gear is where it reaches the governed speed limit of 146mph (6th gear is used for extra fuel economy unless the limiter is removed).

In turn 1, the car is in 4th around 3,000rpm+ until we reach the "M" turn when it is in 3rd gear. It carries 3rd gear all the way till the last long turn before the front straight. Max speed in 3rd is about 86mph where it is close to reaching just before the two 90 degree turns, and the back straight before the long right hand turn.
