Infuriated by my past I set to shift the sands of time. I called on science and physics to aid me in my quest. My studies took me years and cost my every dime. I seldom left my lab as I became deeply obsessed. An obsession born of desperate need to save time squandered in my youth. Then thirst for knowledge turned to greed- an insatiable lust to harvest truth. The foolish mistakes of my wanton past Relentlessly cried for my repair Decades of toil, yielded at last the perfect machine to take me there. I was now a withered shell to show Of the young ambitious man Drown in frustration when long ago my impossible task began. But now my aged body stood At the gates of time all set. I'd only have once chance but could Use it to wipe clean all regret. My careful calculations served me well as my frame endured the shock that held me like a vice while traveling back through my personal hell I saw the years poured into this device. Suddenly a younger version of me appeared. That teenage child who ignorantly frittered youth away He looked at me with without a solitary sign he feared. And I began to ramble on with sage advice that day. And as my throat grew parched from the words I spat His novice and naïve eyes looked back unfilled He stood apathetic of my messages that Were so much precious knowledge spilled. Before I could reason I could feel myself begin to fade sucked back through the vortex then seeing the wasted memories I had made subject to my own torture once again. And upon return to my own time and space My time machine was a display of mechanical gore My eyes began to sob and my heart began to race And I collapsed beside those broken memories on the floor.
