This stunning church sits right in the heart of Bogota in the Chapinero district. It stands in front of a small plaza where vendors sell many cute little trinkets. The church stands in front of the mountain range and looks striking on a clear blue sky day. The church was built in the same place where there was a straw roof chapel built by Fray Antonio María Garzón . The current temple is of gothic style, its construction was requested by the archbishop Vicente Arbeláez to the Bogota architect Julián Lombana in 1875 . It is the most representative symbol of the town of Chapinero due to its architecture, its artistic works, and its stained glass windows all of which makes it one of the most important points of reference in the capital for its own and visitors. It was erected in parish in 1903 and consecrated in 1904 . The tubular organ was brought from Germany in 1950.
