SmallRig clamps are a very convenient way to attach and mount various video and audio gear in small spaces, or in inconspicuous ways. They are very reasonably priced and well made. They hold their position and I use them to position lights, audio gear, and small video cameras where they don't interfere with the line of sight by guests or others at events such as weddings or receptions. 

There is also a hole for a 3/8 inch threaded post which will match most microphones. The included allen wrench is for the 3/8 post so that you can insert and unscrew it. When you purchase the Small Rig Cold Shoe kit by itself, the 3/8 threaded post is included with that.
