Memorial service October 12, 2018 at the Leach and Thomas Funeral Home for David "Dave" Henry Steven Winkler a 24 year resident of Ossining, NY who died on October 9, 2018, at 66 years. Dave was born in Eugene, Oregon on March 22, 1952. Service conducted by David's mother, Beth Lamont and his wife Donna. Tiffany Winkler-Essary guides us among displayed photos of David. Dave spent the first half of his life between Arizona and California. He was a family man and a classic gentleman. Dave was a dedicated and romantic husband, very proud father, precious hardworking son, joyful grandpa, silly uncle, loyal friend and truly devoted jokester. Dave was a restaurant owner who was politically active in his community, providing charitable meals during the holidays that were free to the public. Dave also, more quietly gave support to local and broad projects for the youth, the disabled and those with special needs. A phrase he would often say is "people from all walks of life", to discern the beauty in our differences and experiences. He did that just about all the time; described, projected, celebrated and held precious the beauty of the world and the people in it. He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters, Siobhan(Bill) LaFave, Shirah (Ashley) Linson and Tara Winkler, grandson, Ernest Miles Henry Essary, mother, Beth K. Lamont, mother in law, Bobbie Jean Shorter, Ten brothers and sisters, a bounty of nieces and nephews and many friends. video: Joe Friendly
