Ticket prices for performances have skyrocketed. Their increasing costs have outpaced inflation. As a result, performing arts are now out of the reach of a broad audience. Tickets are "just so darn expensive," notes Michael Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Kaiser's comments were made during a conversation with Aspen Institute Arts Program Director Damian Woetzel on the state of the arts in America. Their roundtable discussion was hosted by the Aspen Institute Arts Program. The talk occurred on Monday, January 27, 2014 in Washington, DC.
