강동진은 건축, 도시설계를 전공하였고 역사경관에 대한 관심이 많습니다. 서울대학교 환경계획연구소, 대구한의대 건축학부를 거쳐 현재 경성대학교 도시공학과 교수로 재직하고 있습니다. 지은 책으로 "빨간벽돌창고와 노란전차" 등이 있습니다.
