The CASE Award for Enterprising Social Innovation (ESI) recognizes outstanding individuals, organizations, or companies whose innovations blend methods from the worlds of business and philanthropy to create sustainable social value that has the potential for large-scale impact.  This award recognizes VisionSprings work to improve vision and economic opportunity in countries all over the developing world.  Drawing upon techniques and concepts from both the commercial and social sectors, VisionSprings innovative business model achieves significant impact for entrepreneurs and for their customers in underserved markets  bringing dramatically improved vision to individuals at the base of the economic pyramid and leading to improvements in health, income, and productivity in the world's poorest communities.

Dr. Jordan Kassalow, VisionSprings Founder and CEO delivered the ESI Lecture and accept the CASE Award for Enterprising Social Innovation on behalf of VisionSpring.   Dr. Kassalow is a co-founder of both VisionSpring and Scojo New York, and is also the founder of the Global Health Policy Program at the Council on Foreign Relations. Prior to his position at the Council, he served as Director of the Onchocerciasis Division at Helen Keller International. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lighthouse International and on the Medical Advisory Board of Helen Keller International. The recipient of numerous awards, including the Social Innovator of the Year Award from BYUs Marriott School of Management, The Aspen Institutes Henry Crown Fellowship, and a Draper Richards Foundation Fellowship, Dr. Kassalow received his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry and completed his Fellowship in Preventive Ophthalmology and his Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins. He serves on the Advisory Board of CIBA Vision.
