In my coverage of police activity I want to also showcase the Heros in Blue. There was some confusion over his rank, but I later confirmed Brian Shapiro is an Officer with the Atlantic City Police Department. Several days ago after a video went viral of a brutal thug punch out cold a homeless woman for what appears to be nothing more than pure sport. The idiot filming the attack then put it.....yup, you guessed, on Facebook.

Officer Shapiro spotted the monster loitering near the location of the attack a day or two later:

Being a homeless man I was very moved by the all too rare act of swift justice. We homeless usually aren't championed by law enforcement, but rather assulted under color of justice. But here Officer Shapiro has proven himself to be a HERO AND FRIEND to the homeless.

For this reason I wanted to buy Officer Shapiro a cup of coffee. I bought a gift card from Dunkin Dounut for Officer Shapiro's use on these coming cold winter nights patrolling the streets. Alast....I found out it is against ACPD policy to accept gratuity of any kind. Never the less Officer Shapiro is still a hero in this homeless man's book.
