- Imamat is a divinely appointed position from Allah (S.W.T.)
- Allah will equip all the Imams with all the neccessary skills.
- With Imams, Age does not Matter. The knowledge is there, they are Imam from Day 1.
- The 9th Imam has an important role in our Histroy in understanding the concept of Imamat.
- All Imams received Imamat past the age of 30, other than the 7th Imam who was 19
- The 9th Imam started at age 7. He was 25 when he was poisoned.
- "I created you from the wombs of your mother when you had no knowledge. I equipped you with the tools of acquiring information."- Quran.
- He then mentions the five senses.
- Quran is not a book of History. It does not go into detail. He picks the main points of the story that convey a message.
- Sura Maryam:
- When Maryam gave birth to Isa, she was not in her own town. She comes in (in the early days of Isas birth): She came back with Isa. When the people of her town saw her, they were shocked. They said, "Oh Maryam you have done something horrible. Oh Maryam, your parents were good people. How could you have done this?" They are saying that your character should reflect the character of your parents. In a previous verse, she asked Allah why she was put in this position. Allah said to respond to them and say you are fasting (the fasting of speech). Allah was saying that she was being taken cared of by Allah.
Maryam pointed to the baby, implying to talk to the baby. They were confused. By the power of Allah, Isa started talking, and said: "I am the servant of Allah. Allah has given me a book and has made me a Nabi. He has given me kitaab (knowledge in this case) and appointed me as a Nabi." Here we saw knowledge comes before Nabuwwat.
- He went on to talk about Prayers and Charity, but also mentioned his mother. He ended by saying, "Peace be upon me, they day I was born, the day I will die and on the Day of Judgement."
- In that light, we can relate this to the 9th Imam who was given Imamat at a young age.
- One of his companions asked him the interpretation of Ayat 103 from Surah 6: "The eyes cannot perceive Allah." Theologeans say that it is impossible to see Allah, because he is not a reality that can be confined. Imam said "compare the conception of the visions and the eyes to the imagination in your mind. Your mind has more power to imagine things. You will be able to imagine sceneries of India or China that you have never visited. Based on what you describe, you were able to imagine it. But your mind does not have the ability to Imagine Allah."
- A companion of the Imam asked him about referring to Allah by 'He' and are His titles seperate to Him. In Islam, Allah is beyond the issue of gender because he is not human. Even His titles are creations of Allah. We use it because we don't have any other way of describing him. But these words are not part of him. This itself is a creation.
- "Allah has created these letters to communicate, to describe him, to worship him and to praise him. Allah is eternal forever, these words are a creation of his."
-We cannot comprehend the power of Allah. At most, you are saying that you are denying weakness of Allah. But you are not able to comprehend his capability.
- One of the companions came to the imam. They asked him about the need for an Imam. The imam said, "Tell your friends about the ayat that are clear in meaning and the ayat that are allegorical and cannot be taken in literal sense. People use the second ones to confuse others using the symbolic ayats.
- Nobody knows the true meaining of the symbolic ayats except those who are grounded in knowledge. That is Rasullah, but the world used for "grounded in knowledge" as plural. Meaing there are others i.e. Imam Ali. Qur'an is sufficient for muslims as long as they are able to find someone to provide an able interpretation. going back to the hadith about the Prophet leaving behind two weighty things behind. The Qur'an and the Ahlul Bayt.
