Two days of updates on the off grid homestead ranging from garden work to greenhouse building to vehicle maintenance and more.

Melanie is using our SilverFire Hunter survival cook stove a lot recently for cooking our meals. She really loves this stove since we can cook outside, reducing heat in the house and also we can use twigs found for free in the yard.

The stove really works well and cooks a meal quickly. It is simple to use and burns a long time on a handful of twigs.

You can literally cook anything on this stove. Melanie cooks stir fry and even french fries on this stove. She keeps saying how much she loves it.

I am going to look for a metal table for her to put this stove on so we can have an outdoor kitchen again this year. We also take this stove camping and fishing with us all the time because it is so convenient and easy to use.

I am working on both the truck and car these days. The car blew out a transmission cooling line somewhere but I cant find the leak. It must be a bit slower leak because I am just not finding it.

And I removed the fuel pump from the truck and then ordered a brand new complete unit online with overnight shipping for a quarter of the cost from the local parts shop. I am hoping to have the truck running this weekend.

Melanie has been working in the garden, planting her seedlings while I have been working in and on the greenhouse. I put a window in the greenhouse, which fits like it was made for it. I have two matching windows and hope to get the other one in soon as well. I want to eventually replace all the plastic with glass for durability and better looks.
