The route begins at the end of the inhabited world on the Arctic Sea in the Norwegian town of Kirkenes. The Russian port of Murmansk lies to the east and the North Pole lies northwards over the Barents Sea. Reporter Tilmann Bünz meets Norwegian lobster fishermen after giant shrimps introduced by Stalin,and Russian captains who are staying on their long decrepit ships. Tilmann needed a special permit to enter no mans land,a ten meter wide strip between East and West.
