Threats against members of the police service will not be taken lightly. This from Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, who was responding to threats against members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service involved in the shooting death of five men in the Laventille area last week. As to why the officers were not wearing body cams at the time of the incident, Minister Young said this falls within the remit of the Commissioner of Police. He pointed out though, that the Body Cam pilot project was staged in the central area and the full implementation of its usage within the TTPS was a priority. Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith says he will not be taking threats on social media lightly. He was making reference to a Facebook account which has been intercepted for having posted content which is offensive, and violent in nature. However, he clarified that he doesn't view the posts as being a threat.
