The US Forest Service worked to assist the Idaho State Department of Agriculture receive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to treat noxious weeds in Boise County, Idaho. The project included treating noxious weeds to improve the ecological stability of plant communities associated with both public and private forest stands and to reduce hazardous fuels for fire. The project employed local residents who were unemployed.
