In 33 countries, Village Drill, designed by BYU students, brings water to millions

In 2010, BYU mechanical engineering Capstone students were challenged to create a human-powered water well drill that could bring clean water to remote areas of the world. After successfully testing the drill in Tanzania in 2011, project sponsor WHOlives.org took the Village Drill worldwide. It is now in 33 countries and has drilled more than 2,500 wells, bringing clean water to millions.
