March 2005 Muthanna in Southern Iraq may be dubbed the 'Province of Peace' but there are still clear dangers to be reckoned with here. In the past months, there have been 30 attacks. The stench from the open sewers in Muthanna can be smelt kilometres away. Soldiers are constantly asked to provide a better life. As one local states: "we need the troops to give us jobs and then security will improve."
