Trying to show some "average guy" sharpening abilities and results using very basic materials. Two different grits of sandpaper, I used 800 and 2000 but it doesnt have to be, and a stack of paper to make for a softer backing. Since I wasnt reprofiling the edge I started at 800. However if you want to reprofile I would suggest getting a lower grit to take more metal off more quickly.

The technique looks very basic and it is. What matters is the proper angle, consistency, pressure and patience. I would definitely recommend practicing some strokes on just paper so you can get a feel for the proper angle.

Be slower and deliberate at first, it will pay off later. I know I didnt demonstrate that, oops. And dont be afraid to fail at first or second or third lol it takes practice.
