(22 Nov 2018) HUGE CHRISTMAS TREE ARRIVES IN THE VATICAN Christmas came early to the Vatican on Thursday (22 NOV. 2018). A giant Christmas tree, 23 meters high, was installed at the centre of the square outside St Peter's Basilica. Nuns mingled with tourists as the spruce - from a forest in the northern Italian town of Pordenone - was set in place. Not everyone was impressed. "It's not the nicest tree in the world," complained one German visitor. The switching-on ceremony will take place on December 7. It will be dismantled on January 13.
