http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org Elene Lester never thought she would end up standing in line at a Cincinnati food pantry. But a turn of events placed her among some 50 million Americans struggling to put enough food on the table. When she took custody of her grandson, 60-year-old Lester was unemployed and didn't have diapers or formula, much less a stocked pantry. When she brought her grandson to Cincinnati Children's for an appointment, physicians identified the family's needs and put them in touch with resources such as the Freestore Foodbank. Lester says she's grateful for the help. Cincinnati Children's is helping train residents to ask the right questions and make a difference for families like Lester's, says Dr. Melissa Klein, a pediatric primary care physician at Cincinnati Children's.
