Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) -- diabetes, heart disease, cancer and chronic lung diseases -- are among the biggest health and development challenges of the century. Today, two out of three deaths are due to NCDs and 80% of the deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Arogya World is a global health non-profit organization working to prevent NCDs through health education and lifestyle change. “Arogya” in Sanskrit means to live a life without disease. Through programs and advocacy efforts, Arogya helps people around the world lead healthier lives. Hear from a Stanford Clinical Researcher, Dr. Latha Palaniappan, what all of us need to know about NCDs to lead a healthier life and from Deepa Prahalad what programs Arogya World is implementing to address the issue in the US and India.
